What is Socialdecks?

Socialdecks is the best flashcard-based education system. Socialdecks is a website that lets you share any information you want with ease via flashcards.

top

Why is it better than other flashcard sharing services?

Socialdecks is better than any existing service for many reasons. Here are a few main ones:

top

How do I get the most out of Socialdecks?

That's easy: just make friends with lots of people who seem interesting, share lots of cards, and compile lots of decks that you find cool and useful!

top

How do I share a card or deck?

To share a card or deck, just click the link above to copy it to your clipboard or just select the link. You can also click the email option and send the link by email.

top

Who sees cards that I share?

All users have access to all of the cards that have been created, but only people who visit your profile (mainly your friends) can see your own cards.

top

How do I manage all the cards I've shared or the decks I've compiled?

Within each respective taskbar menu there is a link to manage your cards, such as:

  1. CARDS >> MANAGE, or
  2. DECKS >> MANAGE

top

How do I befriend people?

When you go to any user's profile, it will state whether or not you are friends. If you are not friends, there will be a link available for you to add that other user as a friend. By default, everyone is friends with "Adwait"

top

What are badges?

"Badges" are the merit based incentive/reward system on Socialdecks. By creating/using cards, compiling decks, or helping other users, you will get a special, unique badge. Users who wish to suggest new badges may do so in the feedback portion of the site. In addition, it would be helpful to include a link to an image or preview of what the badge may look like.

top

How much does it cost to register?

Registration is free! I know it sounds unbelieveable, but it's true. Just by signing up you've taken the first step toward the SocialDecks way of life.

top

How do I register?

All you have to do to register an account is enter your username and password, as well as your email for password verification/website notifications. Please note that your email is never shown to other users, even in the course of mass mails for updates.

top

How do I update my profile?

You can update your profile by clicking on links from your profile page. If it is your profile, the links will dynamically change into forms for you to update.

top

Why is there a generic person as my profile picture?

That is just your default picture when you sign up. If you want to learn how to change it, see here.

top

How do I add/change my status?

To add a status, click the button on your profile titled, "Add Status". If you want to change your status, click the link which states your status and it will turn into a form. Insert your new status into that form and press, "Save Status"

top

How do I add/change my profile picture?

To add a profile picture, click the link on your profile titled, "Change Picture" and either enter a URL or upload a picture from file. Be sure to click the correct radio button left of the method you choose. If you want to change your picture, click the same link and it follow the same instructions as adding a profile picture. Remember: If you have already uploaded some pictures, they will be in your social feed. The advantage of having pictures in your social feed is that you can drag the picture into the URL field of the "Change Picture" feature and then save the new picture. By merely dragging the picture, the location of the picture will be entered into the appropriate field.

When I click the share link for a card/deck, it does not copy to my clipboard. How do I fix it?

  1. First try refreshing the page. That works most of the time!
  2. Next, try restarting Firefox. These two solutions should work almost all of the time
  3. If all else fails, the procedures Socialdecks uses to save the link to your clipboard might be disabled. You can take the following steps:
    1. In Firefox, enter "about:config" into the address bar. If it says this will void your warranty, say "ok".
    2. In the filter, type "clipboard.autocopy" and "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support"
    3. Double click the two so that their values change to "true."
    4. Restart Firefox and Socialdecks will take care of the rest. This might take a minute, so just be patient. You should now be fixed up!
    5. Note: If the problem persists after taking these steps, your edition of Firefox may not be compatible with the feature. In this case, copy and paste the link manually and if you wish, unload your aggressions in feedback.
